Your Career at Sea Starts Here
Steer your future toward the horizon and become the master of your own vessel. Operating a boat safely and confidently is one of the most rewarding and empowering experiences in life — and now, it's your turn.
At Pacific Maritime College, we offer you the opportunity to start a new career in the maritime industry — one that’s in high demand and can take you anywhere in Australia or around the world.
Who Is This Course For?
Whether you’ve never set foot on a boat or are looking to formalise your skills, this course is for you.
Our step-by-step learning system is specifically designed for complete beginners. No boating experience? No problem.
We provide:
• Personalised support in class and on the water
• A structured, progressive learning environment
• An emphasis on confidence through repetition
Repetition is the key to mastery.
With us, you’ll gain comfort, competence, and confidence through ongoing hands-on practice. Every candidate receives the time and attention they need, both in the classroom and during practical training.
Sea Time Made Simple
To complete your Coxswain qualification through AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority), you'll need to meet the sea service requirement:
• Option 1: 30 days qualifying sea service plus a completed AMSA-approved task book
• Option 2: 240 days qualifying sea service (no task book)
At Pacific Maritime College, we help you complete this sea time at no extra cost.
Because we operate commercial vessels frequently, you'll have ample opportunity to clock your hours — quickly and efficiently.

What Happens After I Graduate?
We don’t just train you and send you off. At Pacific Maritime College, we work closely with our sister school — Gold Coast Dive Centre & Marine Training College — and with Watercraft and Commercial Handling Training (PMC). Our organisations operate daily activities on the water and are constantly seeking passionate new skippers.
While a full-time job can’t be guaranteed, there is genuine potential for employment. Many of our graduates go on to work directly with us or through our commercial networks — gaining experience, building hours, and kickstarting a meaningful maritime career.
Many of our own staff were once students — and now they're training the next generation.
Your Future is Just Off the Coast
This qualification allows you to:
• Command vessels <12 metres in length
• Operate commercially within 15 nautical miles of the coast
• Work in industries such as marine tourism, diving, transport, ferry services, water taxis, support vessels, and more
Whether you’re seeking a lifestyle change or your first step into the maritime world — this course is your gateway to the ocean.
